
NORTH CAROLINA — A Raeford man was arrested Thursday after deputies discovered fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs during a traffic stop linked to a reported road rage incident, according to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the incident began when a driver reportedly pointed a gun at another motorist during a road rage encounter. Based on the description provided, Raeford police stopped a vehicle on Fulton Street.
Deputies with the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene with a K-9 unit, which alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A probable cause search was then conducted.
During the search, deputies reported finding about 3.5 grams of fentanyl, 86 pre-packaged baggies of suspected crack cocaine, a baggie of cocaine, oxycodone pills, drug paraphernalia and approximately $3,400 in cash.
Officials said no firearm was located in the vehicle. A passenger was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
The driver, identified as 52-year-old Rasheen Simmid Peterkin of Raeford, was taken into custody. He is charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance.
Deputies said Peterkin was already out on bond for previous cocaine trafficking charges in Hoke County.
He is currently being held in the Hoke County Jail without bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
