FLORIDA — A man is accused of attempting to kill his wife by striking her with a vehicle early Friday morning before fleeing to another county, according to Largo police.
Officers said they received a 911 call around 3 a.m. reporting that a woman had been hit by a vehicle at a location off Ulmerton Road.
Investigators believe the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Dervante Stubbs, intentionally struck his wife with the vehicle. Police said he fled the scene before officers arrived.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and is listed in stable condition. Authorities said she warned detectives that Stubbs would likely attempt to flee the country.
Police tracked Stubbs to Broward County a few hours later, where he was taken into custody and charged with attempted homicide.
Officials said Stubbs remains in the Broward County Jail and is expected to be transported back to Pinellas County.
The investigation remains ongoing.
