FLORIDA — A traffic stop for texting while driving led to the seizure of a large amount of narcotics and the arrest of a Fort Myers man, according to police.
The Fort Myers Police Department said the stop occurred March 25 along the Palm Beach Boulevard corridor during a proactive patrol by Special Enforcement Division detectives.
Detectives said they observed a driver texting while operating a vehicle with unlawful window tint, prompting the stop. During the encounter, officers reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Police identified the driver as 33-year-old Loucruncha Jeansimon, who did not have a valid medical marijuana card. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of marijuana and prompted further investigation.
According to authorities, Jeansimon resisted lawful commands while attempting to conceal an item on his person. Detectives later recovered a concealed package containing multiple types of suspected narcotics.
Officials said the seizure included approximately 84.5 grams of fentanyl, 68.4 grams of crack cocaine, and 28.4 grams of methamphetamine.
Jeansimon was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail. He faces multiple trafficking charges as well as a charge of resisting an officer without violence.
The investigation remains ongoing.
