TEXAS — A motorcyclist is dead following an early-morning crash in south Austin, and police say the ongoing investigation is delaying their response to a separate fatal crash elsewhere in the city.
According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded just after 3 a.m. Friday to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in the 2600 block of Slaughter Lane. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Vehicular homicide investigators and the medical examiner remained at the crash site for an extended period as part of the investigation.
Authorities said the investigation has delayed detectives from responding to a separate auto-pedestrian crash in northwest Austin that has shut down southbound U.S. 183 and caused significant traffic disruptions.
Westbound Slaughter Lane was closed between Brasher Drive and Piping Rock Trail during the investigation.
Police said once the scene in south Austin is cleared, investigators will head to the second crash scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
