
TEXAS — A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a late-night crash in Odessa, according to the Odessa Police Department.
Authorities said officers and Odessa Fire Rescue responded around 11:37 p.m. March 26 to the 400 block of West Yukon Street for reports of a major crash.
Investigators said an orange Nissan Sentra was traveling westbound on Yukon and entered a left turn lane before attempting to turn on a flashing yellow signal. At the same time, a black Indian motorcycle was traveling eastbound.
According to police, an independent witness reported the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash, which occurred in the intersection.
Officials identified the motorcyclist as 23-year-old Jose Marquez. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Sentra was transported to Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
