
TENNESSEE — Authorities are searching for an escaped inmate in Hancock County after a man fled from custody Thursday morning, prompting lockdowns at local schools.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Joshua Wayne Metcalf escaped from the Hancock County Jail shortly after 10 a.m.
Officials said all schools in the Hancock County School System were placed on lockdown as a precaution while deputies and surrounding law enforcement agencies searched for him.
The sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in locating Metcalf.
