Three people arrested following $75K liquor theft scheme in Florida

FLORIDA — Three people have been arrested in connection with an alleged $75,000 liquor theft scheme in Hillsborough County, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said a Tampa-based alcohol distribution company reported ongoing internal theft on March 12. Detectives believe the scheme began around Feb. 13.

Investigators said warehouse associates allegedly concealed cases of high-end liquor on pallets during overnight shifts. Officials reported that security seals were broken and then reapplied to avoid detection.

According to deputies, the stolen liquor was loaded onto delivery trucks, where a driver knowingly left the warehouse without reporting the compromised seals. The driver then made unauthorized stops along his route, primarily at a Wendy’s in Seffner, where the liquor was transferred to a third suspect.

Authorities said the stolen alcohol was taken to a home on Alistar Manor Drive in Wimauma, where it was stored and later sold.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the residence Wednesday and recovered approximately $75,000 worth of stolen liquor. Deputies also seized a 2022 Toyota Corolla believed to have been used in the operation.

The suspects were identified as 54-year-old Darrell Glass, 31-year-old Mario Bancroft and 45-year-old Lateisha Glass.

Darrell Glass and Bancroft were each charged with organized fraud over $50,000 and grand theft in the second degree. Lateisha Glass was charged with grand theft in the second degree and dealing in stolen property. Darrell Glass also faces an additional charge of dealing in stolen property.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
