OHIO — A woman was arrested Wednesday evening after deputies reported erratic driving behavior along State Route 274 in Rushsylvania, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said deputies were called shortly before 6:30 p.m. by an off-duty deputy who reported a black SUV traveling erratically. The vehicle was observed crossing the centerline and leaving the roadway multiple times before briefly stopping at a gas station in Rushsylvania.
Deputies later located the vehicle, identified as a 2013 Honda Pilot driven by 47-year-old Shawna Bensman, as it continued eastbound on State Route 274 exhibiting the same driving behavior.
Officials said deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop. When Bensman eventually pulled over, deputies observed signs of intoxication.
According to authorities, Bensman initially refused to exit the vehicle but complied after repeated commands. Deputies said she was unable to complete field sobriety tests due to an unsteady balance.
During the arrest, officials said Bensman resisted but was ultimately taken into custody without further incident. She was transported to the Logan County Jail, where she refused to provide a urine sample.
Bensman was issued a citation for driving under the influence and is scheduled to appear in court next week. She was later released to a sober driver.
The incident remains under investigation.
