ILLINOIS — A crash involving a semi-truck caused major traffic delays during the Wednesday morning commute near the I-90/94 split in Chicago, according to Illinois State Police.
Troopers said they responded around 6:51 a.m. to a two-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 90 near Kostner Avenue, just before the split between the Kennedy and Edens expressways.
Authorities said the crash involved a truck-tractor semi-trailer and another vehicle. One person was taken to a local hospital with injuries, though their condition has not been released.
The crash blocked the left three lanes on the Kennedy Expressway side. Officials also shut down the right three lanes on the Edens Expressway side due to large pieces of sheet metal scattered across the roadway.
The incident caused significant delays for drivers, and motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.
Officials have not said what caused the crash or when all lanes will fully reopen.
The investigation remains ongoing.
