SOUTH CAROLINA — A report of a naked man outside a convenience store led to a drug arrest Monday afternoon, according to police.

Officers with the North Charleston Police Department were dispatched around 4:15 p.m. to the 8700 block of Rivers Avenue after a caller reported a man in bushes near a Circle K store. When officers arrived, they found the man in public view without pants.

Police said the officer instructed the man to put his pants back on, which were located nearby. While gathering the man’s belongings, the officer discovered a small bag containing a crystal-like substance.

The man, identified as 34-year-old Davon Octavious Lawrence of North Charleston, told officers the bag and an identification card found with it belonged to him. Authorities said the substance weighed approximately 0.9 grams and tested positive for methamphetamine in a field test.

Lawrence was charged with possession of methamphetamine and indecent exposure. He was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The incident remains under investigation.
