INDIANA — A 58-year-old man was arrested after police discovered suspected fentanyl during a traffic stop in Richmond, according to authorities.

Officers with the Richmond Police Department’s SAFE Team, working alongside the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a targeted enforcement operation focused on drug activity on March 20.

Around 4 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop near Arba Pike and Chester Boulevard involving a white Toyota Tacoma.

A K-9 unit responded to the scene, and the police dog alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search led to the discovery of approximately 4 grams of suspected fentanyl, officials said.

The driver, identified as 58-year-old Daniel Sullivan of Greens Fork, Indiana, was taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Jail.

Richmond Police Chief Kyle Weatherly emphasized the impact of fentanyl on the community, stating that the drug “impacts entire families and neighborhoods.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
