ALABAMA — An Altoona man was killed and several others, including two young children, were injured in a multi-vehicle crash Monday morning in Blount County, according to authorities.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the crash occurred on Alabama 75 north of Oneonta.

Officials identified the victim as 62-year-old Paul Johnson of Altoona. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Troopers said the driver of another vehicle involved in the crash was also injured and taken to UAB Hospital for treatment.

Investigators said that after the initial collision, Johnson’s vehicle was struck by a third vehicle.

A 2-year-old and an 8-month-old, who were passengers in that third vehicle, were also injured and taken to an area hospital.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate the crash.
