OHIO — One driver was killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash Saturday evening in Liberty Township, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the crash began around 5:20 p.m. when they received reports of a reckless driver operating a Mazda westbound on Ohio 129.
Authorities said the vehicle exited onto Ohio 747, where it sideswiped a silver SUV before continuing northbound. The driver then made a U-turn and traveled south on Ohio 747.
Investigators said the Mazda ran a red light near the Ohio 129 overpass and collided head-on with a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The Mazda then struck a guardrail and came to rest on the bridge.
The driver of the Mazda was transported to UC West Chester Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The driver and passenger in the pickup truck were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No injuries were reported in the SUV involved earlier.
Ohio 747 was shut down in both directions as emergency crews responded and investigators processed the scene.
The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
The crash remains under investigation.
