FLORIDA — A St. Petersburg man is in critical condition following a motorcycle crash early Sunday morning in Pinellas Park, according to police.
Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. to the area of Belcher Road, just south of 75th Street North, where they found a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle that had left the roadway and crashed into a tree in the median.
Investigators said the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Belcher Road when he left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck the tree.
The rider sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Preliminary findings indicate speed and impairment may have been contributing factors.
The Pinellas Park Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
