ILLINOIS — A teenager has died following a shooting Saturday evening at the Champaign Marketplace Mall, according to police.
Champaign Police officers were called just after 6 p.m. to the Market Place Shopping Center near the Dick’s House of Sport store for reports of a fight in the parking lot.
During the altercation, investigators believe a firearm was discharged, striking a 16-year-old victim.
Officers began providing first aid until Champaign Fire Department personnel arrived. The teen was transported to a hospital but died a few hours later.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
Police said no arrests have been made.
