OHIO — A motorcyclist has died following a crash Saturday evening in Tuscarawas County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 5:05 p.m. on state Route 800 near Froman Hill Road in Fairfield Township.

Investigators said 63-year-old Jack Lineberry was riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound when he encountered a vehicle slowing to make a right turn.

Authorities said Lineberry swerved left of center to avoid the vehicle, lost control, and slid off the east side of the roadway before striking a guardrail.

He was transported by medical helicopter to Summa Health Akron Campus. Officials said he later died from his injuries early Sunday morning, according to the Summit County Coroner’s Office.

Troopers said alcohol and drugs are believed to be factors in the crash, and Lineberry was not wearing a helmet at the time.

The crash remains under investigation.
