
TEXAS — A 21-year-old man was arrested early Friday following a traffic stop in Webb County after a K9 unit detected narcotics, according to authorities.
A Webb County Patrol Division K9 handler conducted the stop around 3:07 a.m. on U.S. Highway 83. The driver was identified as Alberto Garza.
Officials said K9 Ela alerted to the vehicle, leading deputies to search the car. During the search, authorities found approximately 2.6 ounces of marijuana and 3.2 grams of methamphetamine.
“Our K9 program is a critical component of keeping Webb County safe,” Sheriff Martin Cuellar said. “K9 Ela and her handler play a vital role in detecting narcotics and preventing dangerous substances from reaching our community.”
Garza was taken to the Webb County Jail for booking and processing.
The case remains under investigation.
