FLORIDA — A small plane carrying four people crashed early Saturday morning near a runway in Upper Captiva, according to authorities.
Emergency crews said the aircraft went down in bushes near the runway. All four passengers on board — believed to be a family — were not injured.
Officials with the Sanibel and Captiva Chamber of Commerce confirmed that no injuries were reported. Authorities said the plane lost a wing before crashing.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is aware of the incident and is investigating.
Officials have not yet released information on what caused the crash or the extent of the damage.
