ARIZONA — One person was injured and multiple people were detained following an overnight shooting in Surprise, police said.
Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. Saturday to reports of a shooting near Bell Road and Parkview Place, east of Reems Road.
Investigators said a fight involving multiple people broke out, which led to gunfire. One person was struck and transported to a nearby hospital. Their condition has not been released.
Authorities said several individuals were detained in connection with the incident, though the exact number has not been disclosed.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community. Detectives remained at the scene Saturday morning gathering additional information.
