FLORIDA — Two people from Lake City were killed Friday night in a motorcycle crash in Lafayette County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and County Road 53, west of Mayo.
Troopers said a pickup truck pulling a boat entered the intersection from a stop sign at the same time a motorcycle carrying two people was traveling east on U.S. 27. The motorcycle struck the boat being towed by the truck.
Both riders on the motorcycle, a 64-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The two people inside the pickup truck were not injured, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
