OHIO — A 38-year-old woman died following a two-vehicle crash Friday night in Strasburg, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Nichole L. Vanmeter, of Strasburg, was pronounced dead at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton after the crash, which occurred around 9:15 p.m. on South Wooster Avenue near 7th Street SW.
Authorities said Vanmeter was riding a black 2020 Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883 northwest on South Wooster Avenue when a black 2014 Toyota RAV4 attempted to turn left onto the roadway from a private drive. The motorcycle overturned and struck the SUV.
The driver of the Toyota, Benjamin Cookson, 24, of Akron, sustained possible injuries.
Investigators said Vanmeter was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Impairment is not suspected, and the crash remains under investigation.
Strasburg police and fire departments, along with Finlayson’s Towing, assisted at the scene.
