OHIO — A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with an attempted carjacking in the parking lot of Monroe High School, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the incident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday when the teen approached an 18-year-old who was sitting in a parked vehicle and asked for a vape cartridge. When the older teen said he did not have one, the suspect allegedly pulled out what appeared to be a gun and demanded the vehicle.
The victim drove away from the scene and contacted police.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect as a fellow student at the high school. Deputies later located the teen in the Oakridge Estates area of Monroe Township and arrested him at a home on the 300 block of Wildhaven.
During the arrest, deputies recovered a silver pellet gun that resembled a real firearm.
The juvenile was taken to the Monroe County Youth Center. The case remains under investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
