KENTUCKY — A joint investigation by law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of an Ohio County man on drug trafficking and firearm charges, officials said.

According to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police, 34-year-old Dwayne Hackney, of Centertown, was taken into custody Tuesday following a traffic stop in Allen County.

Authorities said detectives stopped Hackney’s vehicle for having dark aftermarket window tint. During the investigation, officers discovered a large amount of suspected methamphetamine and a semi-automatic handgun inside the vehicle.

Officials said Hackney, a convicted felon, is suspected of purchasing the drugs and transporting them back to Ohio County for distribution.

Hackney was arrested without incident and booked into the Allen County Jail.

He faces multiple charges, including first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, and traffic-related violations. He was also served with a probation violation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
