NORTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting at a home in Salisbury on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Officers with the Salisbury Police Department responded to a reported break-in on Beard Street around 4 p.m. on March 19. When police arrived, they found multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others — a man believed to be the shooter and a woman — were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic incident that escalated into violence.
Police have not yet released the identity of the person who died. Officials said charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the case.
