LOUISIANA — A 32-year-old man was arrested following a traffic stop in Eunice that led to the seizure of a modified firearm, suspected drugs and thousands of dollars in cash.

According to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, James Price III was taken into custody after narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on the 800 block of Beulah Street during a criminal patrol.

Authorities said Price exited the vehicle with a handgun visible in his waistband. Investigators identified the weapon as a 10 mm Glock Model 20 equipped with a forced-reset trigger, a modification that allows the firearm to fire at a rate similar to a fully automatic weapon.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 12 ounces of suspected promethazine and $7,895 in cash.

Price faces multiple charges, including distribution of marijuana, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, transactions involving drug proceeds, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and a seat belt violation.

Officials said the investigation also supported statements made by Price indicating involvement in marijuana sales.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said additional charges are possible as they seek a warrant to examine the suspect’s cell phone.
