FLORIDA — A 13-year-old has been arrested after deputies say he attacked a puppy and a family member during a domestic incident in North Fort Myers.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home Wednesday, where they found the teen attempting to pry open a front door with a knife.
Investigators say the teen allegedly picked up a puppy and choked it after it went to the bathroom inside the home. When a family member attempted to intervene, the teen reportedly struck them in the head with a rock and chased them around the house while armed with a knife.
The suspect was taken into custody and charged with animal cruelty and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Authorities said the puppy was not injured, and the family member sustained minor injuries.
The teen is being held in juvenile detention for three weeks. The incident remains under investigation.
