LOUISIANA — Three Baton Rouge residents have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday evening at a McDonald’s in Watson, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. at the restaurant near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 16 and Springfield Road. The victim, identified as 26-year-old Mitchell Ventress, was pronounced dead.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said deputies responded to reports of a shooting and later learned that two men exited the passenger side of a vehicle after witnesses heard a gunshot.

Authorities identified the suspects as 25-year-old Kevonta Dennis, 39-year-old Keedrick Jack, and 26-year-old Keondra McNeely. All three were taken into custody and are currently being held at a facility in East Baton Rouge Parish. They are expected to be transferred to the Livingston Parish Detention Center.

Investigators determined that Dennis and Jack had gone to the McDonald’s parking lot to meet Ventress for a drug transaction. During that meeting, Ventress was shot and killed, officials said.

The suspect vehicle was later located in the Central area of East Baton Rouge Parish, where Dennis and McNeely were detained.

The investigation remains ongoing.
