GEORGIA — A traffic stop in Adel led to a multi-agency drug trafficking investigation and the arrest of two individuals on felony charges, according to authorities.

Officials said 52-year-old Ontio Miller and 41-year-old Santiago Hernandez Castillo were taken into custody following a joint operation involving the Adel Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Southwestern Regional Drug Enforcement Office.

The investigation began after law enforcement obtained a warrant for Miller’s vehicle during a February traffic stop. Officers reported discovering marijuana packaged for sale inside the vehicle.

A second search warrant was later executed at Miller’s residence in the 500 block of South Poplar Street. During that search, authorities said they located large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana, all packaged for distribution. Officers also seized scales, packaging materials and a .45-caliber pistol.

Miller faces multiple charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Several of the charges also include enhanced penalties for alleged drug activity within 1,000 feet of a housing project.

Hernandez Castillo was arrested in the 700 block of Kennedy Drive and is charged with the sale and trafficking of methamphetamine, according to police.

Officials said the case highlights the effectiveness of cooperation between multiple law enforcement agencies.
