KENTUCKY — A Bowling Green woman has been arrested after police say she stole more than $40,000 from a local clothing store over several years.
According to the Bowling Green Police Department, officers responded Tuesday to Plato’s Closet on Scottsville Road after the store’s owner reported a delayed theft.
Authorities allege that 22-year-old Gabrielle Aguilar, an employee at the store, stole more than $42,000 during her three years of employment.
Investigators said the store first became suspicious in October 2024 after an internal audit flagged irregular activity. A review of store records and surveillance footage reportedly showed transactions made under Aguilar’s name that did not match actual resale items.
Police said more than 250 transactions were linked to Aguilar in the past year alone, including about $30,000 in fraudulent sales.
Aguilar was fired, banned from the property, and taken into custody. She is charged with theft by deception involving $10,000 or more and remains held at the Warren County Regional Jail.
