Ohio resident charged after threatening mosque

OHIO — A Medina County man has been arrested and charged with allegedly making threats against a mosque and illegally possessing firearms while using controlled substances, according to federal authorities.

Wyatt James Brzoska, 20, of Valley City, faces federal charges including interstate threats and unlawful possession of firearms. Court documents state the investigation began after an anonymous tip to the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center in November 2025 regarding social media posts.

According to an FBI affidavit, Brzoska allegedly posted videos referencing mass shootings and extremist symbols. In one post, authorities say he made comments interpreted as referencing the 2019 Christchurch mosque shooting in New Zealand.

Investigators said Brzoska was initially interviewed by Medina County deputies and told them the threats were a joke.

However, authorities say his posts later escalated. In March, he allegedly recorded a video showing a mosque in northern Ohio with a message reading, “You will feel it,” while wearing military-style clothing.

The FBI also cited additional videos showing Brzoska with firearms and tactical gear. Authorities said he admitted to owning multiple weapons and using marijuana daily.

Federal officials say the combination of the posts, statements and possession of firearms while using controlled substances led to the charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
