NORTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash late Tuesday night in north Charlotte, according to emergency officials.
The crash occurred just before midnight along Statesville Road near Ranson Middle School.
Paramedics confirmed one person died at the scene. Of the two individuals injured, one sustained life-threatening injuries while the other suffered serious injuries.
Authorities said a red SUV and a dark-colored car were involved in the crash, though the exact cause has not yet been determined.
The southbound lanes of Statesville Road were temporarily closed following the crash but have since reopened.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the incident.
