VIRGINIA — One person was hospitalized following a police chase that ended in a crash early Wednesday morning, according to the Bedford Fire Department.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 6:29 a.m. to the 3000 block of Big Island Highway in northern Bedford for reports of a crash involving a law enforcement pursuit.
When first responders arrived, they found a vehicle on its side with significant damage. Deputies with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office assisted in rescuing the driver by removing the windshield to gain access.
The driver was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
After the driver was removed and taken for medical care, the scene was turned over to Virginia State Police so the roadway could be reopened.
