
FLORIDA — One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 75 in Collier County early Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash involved three vehicles and occurred on the southbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 110.
As emergency crews responded to the scene, traffic was diverted off the interstate at mile marker 111 near Immokalee Road. Authorities reported significant delays, with traffic backed up for more than 10 miles between the Immokalee Road exit and the Pine Ridge Road exit.
Officials confirmed one fatality but have not released additional details about the victim or the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The southbound lanes remained closed for several hours as the investigation continued. Northbound traffic on I-75 was not affected.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
