OHIO — A 19-year-old woman is recovering after being shot Saturday night in Dayton, according to police.
Officers with the Dayton Police Department responded to the 800 block of Troy Street just before 11 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. When crews arrived, they located the young woman and provided first aid at the scene.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
According to dispatch audio, the woman called 911 herself after the shooting, repeatedly telling operators, “I’m shot,” and indicating she had been struck in the leg. During the call, she told dispatchers she was inside a duplex but was unsure if the suspect was still outside.
When asked who shot her, the woman did not provide an answer and told dispatchers she was unable to talk. The call ended shortly after.
The incident remains under investigation by the Dayton Police Department’s Violent Offender Unit. No additional information has been released at this time.
