
TEXAS — Two people have been arrested following a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist seriously injured in Odessa, police said.
According to the Odessa Police Department, officers and Odessa Fire Rescue responded around 8:49 p.m. March 14 to a crash at the intersection of University Boulevard and Andrews Highway.
Investigators said a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Andrews Highway when a blue Honda Civic heading south attempted to turn left onto University Boulevard and failed to yield, colliding with the motorcycle.
Police said the driver of the Civic fled the scene following the crash.
The motorcyclist was taken to Medical Center Hospital with serious injuries and was later airlifted to Lubbock for further treatment.
Authorities later identified the driver as 53-year-old Javier Valenzuela Diaz. He was arrested on a felony charge of collision involving serious bodily injury. Police said Diaz was also wanted on an unrelated warrant for assault causing bodily injury involving family violence.
A second person, 54-year-old Irene Ontiveros, was also arrested in connection with the incident. Police said she is accused of providing false information to an officer, a Class B misdemeanor.
The investigation remains ongoing.
