
OHIO — Authorities are investigating after a woman was found unresponsive in a cell at the Portage County Jail Sunday evening.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, Pauline Ferrell, 42, was discovered around 8:30 p.m. during a routine security check inside the jail.
Officials said jail staff immediately began basic and advanced life-saving measures and contacted medical personnel. Despite those efforts, Ferrell was later pronounced dead.
Major Bryan Morgenstern of the Portage County Sheriff’s Office said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. Officials have not released additional details about the cause of death.
Authorities have not said how long Ferrell had been in custody or what charges she may have been facing at the time.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials say more information may be released as it becomes available.
