KENTUCKY — A man was arrested Saturday night in Winchester after authorities said he barricaded himself inside a residence following reports of a domestic violence incident.
Deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 8 p.m. on March 15 to a home on Orchid Court after receiving reports of domestic violence in the area, according to the Winchester Police Department.
Authorities said the man, identified in court records as John Tiggelaar, 39, had barricaded himself inside the residence before deputies arrived. Police said Tiggelaar allegedly threatened to harm anyone who tried to enter the home.
A joint special response team made up of sheriff’s deputies and Winchester police officers was deployed to the neighborhood. Officers said Tiggelaar was repeatedly called out of the home over a loudspeaker but refused to cooperate.
Police eventually entered the residence and took Tiggelaar into custody without further incident.
Tiggelaar was charged with fourth-degree domestic violence assault with minor injury, second-degree strangulation related to domestic violence, third-degree terroristic threatening, and resisting arrest.
He was lodged in the Clark County Detention Center without bond. Authorities said Tiggelaar is scheduled to appear in court at 10:30 a.m. on March 26 for a domestic and interpersonal violence hearing.
