TEXAS — Three people were killed and a child was seriously injured in a head-on collision Saturday on FM-51 in Cooke County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Troopers responded March 14 to a two-vehicle crash on FM-51 near County Road 383. Investigators determined that an SUV traveling south attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and collided head-on with another SUV.
Officials said the SUV that was struck caught fire following the crash.
The driver and two passengers inside the vehicle that caught fire were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, a child, was airlifted to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth with serious injuries.
Authorities said the identities of the victims will be released at a later time. It is not yet clear whether any charges will be filed in connection with the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
