FLORIDA — Law enforcement agencies across Pinellas County arrested dozens of impaired drivers during a special enforcement effort over St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office conducted a DUI “Wolf Pack” operation from 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, to 5 a.m. Sunday, March 15, increasing patrols throughout the county to target impaired drivers during the holiday.

According to the sheriff’s office, 25 drivers were charged with driving under the influence, while another 25 drivers received DUI citations during the operation.

Authorities said the enforcement effort also led to 34 criminal charges overall. One person was arrested on a felony drug charge, and two drivers were arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

In addition, deputies issued 130 citations for various traffic and non-moving violations, including speeding, lack of insurance, seat belt violations, open container violations, and driving with suspended or revoked licenses.

The operation involved several law enforcement agencies, including the Florida Highway Patrol and police departments from Largo, Pinellas Park, Indian Shores, Tarpon Springs, Kenneth City, Gulfport, and Clearwater.

Officials said the increased enforcement was intended to reduce impaired driving and keep roads safe during one of the year’s busiest holiday weekends.
