PENNSYLVANIA — More than 200,000 homes and businesses across Pennsylvania are without electricity Saturday morning following strong winds that moved through the region.
According to outage tracking website PowerOutage.us, about 214,814 customers statewide are without power, representing roughly 3.2% of the more than 6.7 million customers monitored in Pennsylvania.
Allegheny County reported the largest number of outages, with more than 103,000 customers without electricity. Westmoreland County had nearly 17,000 outages, while Washington County reported more than 16,000 customers without power. Butler and Beaver counties also reported significant outages, each with more than 12,000 customers affected.
Duquesne Light Company reported the largest number of outages among utilities, with more than 104,000 customers without power. FirstEnergy reported more than 92,000 outages across its Pennsylvania service areas.
Utility crews were working to restore service as conditions allowed. Officials said strong winds were responsible for knocking down trees and power lines across parts of the state, leading to widespread outages.
