TENNESSEE — Three teenagers were arrested and guns and marijuana were recovered following a police pursuit Thursday, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Detectives with the department’s TITANS Unit attempted to stop a Nissan Altima on East Old Hickory Boulevard, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Police said the vehicle was driven erratically, passing other cars and entering oncoming traffic while trying to evade officers.
The department’s aviation unit later located the Altima at an apartment complex on Whites Creek Pike. Authorities said 18-year-old Jaquain Ussery, 18-year-old Braniesha Braden and a 16-year-old were seen running into an apartment.
Investigators recovered a backpack in the breezeway of the complex that contained two handguns — both equipped with switches that made them fully automatic — along with about 1.58 pounds of marijuana.
Ussery was charged with felony weapon possession, felony and misdemeanor evading arrest, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remained in custody on a $75,000 bond.
Braden was charged with felony and misdemeanor evading arrest and was released on a $6,000 bond.
The 16-year-old faces several charges in juvenile court, including handgun possession, felony weapon possession, marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor evading arrest.
