
LOUISIANA — A student was removed from campus Friday after a gun was discovered in a backpack at Seventh Ward Elementary School, according to Livingston Parish school officials.
School administrators found the firearm while the student was in the school office. Officials immediately took possession of the backpack and contacted the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office school resource officer.
Authorities said the gun was not loaded, and no ammunition was found with it.
The student was removed from campus, and officials said students and staff continued their normal schedules following the incident.
Law enforcement officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding how the firearm was brought onto campus.
