
ILLINOIS — Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash on Interstate 57 near Rantoul Thursday night, according to Illinois State Police.
The crash happened just before 9 p.m. at milepost 248, about two miles south of the exit to Rantoul. Officials said only one vehicle was involved in the incident.
Police reported that the passenger vehicle entered the center median, overturned and then struck a guardrail.
Authorities have not released details about how severe the occupants’ injuries were or their current conditions.
Following the crash, the northbound lanes of I-57 were shut down at Champaign’s Market Street, which is about eight miles south of the crash site. The roadway reopened at approximately 3:24 a.m., according to state police.
The crash remains under investigation, and officials say no additional information is available at this time.
