
MICHIGAN — More than 42,000 homes and businesses are without electricity across Michigan as of Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
The outage tracking service reported 42,686 customers without power out of more than 5 million customers monitored statewide, representing about 0.84% of customers. Michigan currently has the highest number of outages in the country, according to the site’s latest update.
Consumers Energy reported the largest number of outages, with 21,843 customers without electricity, followed by DTE Energy, which reported 11,071 outages. Indiana Michigan Power reported 5,467 customers without power.
Several counties reported significant outages as well. Oakland County had the largest number of affected customers with 5,059 outages, followed by Berrien County with 3,444, Macomb County with 3,314, and Kent County with 3,093. Other counties seeing notable outages included Allegan County with 2,832 and Ottawa County with 2,615 customers without power.
Utility crews are continuing to monitor conditions and work to restore service to affected areas.
