One person dead following vehicle crash in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A crash in north Charlotte on Thursday left one person dead and another seriously injured, according to officials.

The crash occurred on Statesville Road near Twin Lakes Parkway. Emergency responders pronounced one person dead at the scene, while another victim was transported with serious injuries, according to Medic.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating the crash and has asked the public to avoid the area. Authorities have not yet determined what led to the collision.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation also reported a separate crash nearby on the Interstate 485 inner loop near Exit 32. That crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. and was expected to close lanes until approximately 7:45 p.m.

Officials said one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the second crash. It is not known whether the two crashes are connected.
