Thousands without power in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — More than 6,000 homes and businesses across South Carolina are without electricity Thursday morning, according to national outage tracking data.

PowerOutage.us reported about 6,027 customers statewide are without power as of the latest update Thursday morning. The outages represent roughly 0.2% of the more than 3 million customers tracked across the state.

Lexington County reported the largest number of outages, with about 2,753 customers without electricity.

Hampton County followed with approximately 1,069 outages, while Saluda County reported about 408 customers affected. Additional outages were reported in Allendale, Aiken and Union counties.

By utility provider, Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative reported the most outages with about 2,611 customers without power. Dominion Energy reported roughly 1,963 outages, while smaller numbers were reported by Broad River Electric Cooperative, Duke Energy and Palmetto Electric Cooperative.

Utility crews across the state were working Thursday morning to restore power to affected homes and businesses.
