
NORTH CAROLINA — More than 10,000 homes and businesses across North Carolina are without electricity Thursday morning, according to national outage tracking data.
PowerOutage.us reported about 10,064 customers statewide are without power as of the latest update Thursday morning. The outages represent roughly 0.17% of the nearly 5.9 million customers tracked across North Carolina.
Mecklenburg County had the largest number of outages, with about 2,170 customers without power. Union County followed with approximately 2,024 outages, while Iredell County reported around 1,208 customers affected. Buncombe County also reported more than 1,000 outages.
By utility provider, Duke Energy reported the most outages with about 7,226 customers without power.
Several electric cooperatives also reported outages, including Union Power Cooperative, Surry-Yadkin Electric Membership Corporation and Randolph Electric Membership Corporation.
North Carolina ranked among the states with the most outages nationwide Thursday morning. Utility crews continued working to restore electricity to affected customers.
