NORTH CAROLINA — An 18-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Officers said the crash happened around 4:20 p.m. in the 2100 block of Reynolds Park Road.
Investigators say the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road outside of a marked crosswalk when they were hit by a 2004 Dodge Ram driven by an 85-year-old man.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Police say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The road has since reopened.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing and more information may be released as it becomes available.
