
KENTUCKY — More than 7,000 homes and businesses across Kentucky are without electricity Wednesday evening, according to outage tracking data.
PowerOutage.us reported that 7,298 customers are without power statewide out of approximately 2.47 million tracked customers. The outages represent about 0.3% of electricity users in Kentucky.
Clay County reported the largest number of outages, with 1,548 customers without power. Fayette County followed with 1,061 outages, while Warren County reported 699 customers affected. Additional outages were reported in Laurel, Lawrence, Clinton, Greenup and Carter counties.
Among utilities, Jackson Energy Cooperative reported the largest number of outages, with 2,173 customers without electricity, affecting about 4.1% of its customers.
Kentucky Utilities reported 1,614 outages, while Kentucky Power reported 1,173 customers without service. Bowling Green Municipal Utilities and South Kentucky RECC also reported several hundred outages.
Kentucky ranked sixth in the nation for total outages and fourth for the percentage of customers affected Wednesday evening. Utility crews continued working to restore power while officials monitored the outages across the state.
