
MARYLAND — More than 10,000 homes and businesses across Maryland are without electricity Wednesday evening, according to the latest outage data.
PowerOutage.us reported that 10,011 customers are without power statewide out of approximately 2.6 million tracked customers. The outages represent about 0.38% of electricity users in Maryland.
Montgomery County had the largest number of outages, with 4,043 customers affected. Howard County followed closely with 3,953 outages, while Frederick County reported 1,767 customers without electricity. Smaller numbers of outages were also reported in Baltimore County, Carroll County and Baltimore City.
Among utilities, FirstEnergy reported the largest number of customers without power, with 5,270 outages affecting about 1.82% of its customers. Baltimore Gas & Electric reported 4,450 outages, while Pepco and Delmarva Power reported smaller numbers of customers affected.
Statewide, Maryland ranked third in the nation for total outages and second for the percentage of customers affected as of Wednesday evening. Utility crews were continuing restoration efforts as officials monitored the situation.
